I have recently seen a massive increase in Galaxy and constellation trends, and I love it. I have always loved stars and constellations, I remember going on a school trip to the countryside and the sky had no light pollution and the sky was just so beautiful. So now that everyone else is loving constellations too I couldn’t be happier.
So that is why I have decided to upcycle/revamp a plain denim dress to be a little less boring and a bit more on trend!
What I have done is simply marked out a load of constellations along the bottom hem and then started embroidering!! I still have a little bit do do on it still. I want to do some more random small stars in little french knots around the constellations and then thin them out as it gets towards the middle of the dress. Hopefully will have this done by next week and I will show you all the finished results!!

I recently decided to revamp a pair of old dungarees that I had. Originally bought from a topshop sale, they were a little small, but now a few years on I can fit in them! However I felt they were a little dull and needed a bit of “jazzing” up. So with a bit of Liberty fabric I had, I think I have added a bit of colour to a pair of bog-standard dungaree
1. Select Fabric.
2. Cut the the size of the inside and back pockets
3. Push fabric into pockets and line up.
4. Hand sew them into place.
5. For the back I cut a piece to fold over the top of the pocket.
6. Then hand sew to secure (I used a bright embroidery thread for this)
I really wish I had a before picture for you all, but I forgot to take one!! My mum bought me the chest in our local charity shop for £5!! When she brought them home it was covered in bright blue paint, with orange drawers and blue knobs! Pretty much looked like a jaffa-cake box!!
Very kindly my mum and dad sanded it down and gave it a white undercoat .
I then gave it a top coat again in white, theennn it gets fun…
For the drawers here I have used a small piece of wall paper I had “sampled”, from our local DIY store.
I cut it to the size of each drawer (they get progressively bigger) and then PVA glued it down using a sponge!
Once dry I then used a protective lacquer (varnish would also work) over the top to make it a little more water/scratch proof than the paper by itself! and I absolutely love it!! Then 6 new porcelain knobs later and its done! It was really simple to do, and would recommend it to anyone!!

I moved into my new house for the next year of uni the other week! And although I promised myself I wouldn’t… I keep on buying stuff to make my room look pretty!!! But this time I had valid reason… They were such bargains!!! On the weekend I went to Earlestown market, which has all your basic outdoor market kind of stuff, a woman selling outlet clothing, a man selling army gear and those guys that do house clearances and shout “Anything you see…. fifty-peeeeeee”. But there was a new stall this week, two ladies had all of these lamps and lampshades, rugs, throws, blankets, cushion covers the lot!! All the stuff that make houses more homely and coincidentally I am a sucker for!! I didn’t have much cash on me or I would have bought the lot! However I did get these two lovely items….
The lamp (which has fabric shade I just havent taken the plastic wrapping off yet) is about 40-50cm tall and I got for £3.50!!! Which for a brand new lamp I thought was pretty damn good!! And the cute little door mat in Red and White Polka dots was £2.00, oh I do love a bargain! I will probably be back next weekend and see if they are there again and I will definitely bring some more pennies with me!
